real life conversations, pt. 15

At the dinner table, while discussing nightmares we've had, after Mom told us that a dream about fending off a wolf caused her to scream in the middle of the night, and Doug disclosed that he once had a nightmare that ninjas were chasing him...

Mom: "What exactly are ninjas? Aren't they like, turtles?"
*Blank stares from all around the table, then uproarious laughter*
Jayne: "Those are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!"
Me: "Mom, are you serious? You're the smartest person I know, and you don't know what ninjas are?!"
*We proceed to explain what ninjas are*
Dad: "Dreaming about ninjas should make you scream, not wolves."
Mom: "Maybe a ninja wolf."

  1. I definitely chuckled when I read this; sounds like a convo I would have with my 9yr old sister about random memes on the internet that apparently I need to know about to be an educated human being =P

    1. Haha - the older you get, the harder it is to keep up, right? :)

  3. aha...I am justified in my terror! I'm reading a history of Russia pre-WWII...the Russians invaded Poland, deported 1000s of people to Siberia. The lorries got stuck in the snow and slush, "...somewhere in the distance was a forest, and we saw wolves coming out...the deportees watched as the wolves attacked the lorry."

    1. Ah, yes. I forgot that you were a Polish deportee. Totally justified by that traumatic experience from your youth.
