2012 mastheads

January 2012: counting it all joy
James 1:2

Jay-z & Kayne & Will Ferrell?!
---
March 2012: ... He faithful will remain...
From my favorite hymn, "Be Still My Soul"

---
April 2012: living young & wild & free
So what? (Oh please, Internet, understand that I make many of these mastheads ironically.)
---
May 2012: always joyful selves are singing
from ee cummings' "sweet spring"

---
June 2012: suddenly my prayers are coming true
from Mandi Mapes' song "This Love" - about adoption!
---
July 2012: on the verge of mommyblog
it's happening... slowly but surely, it's happening.

---
August 2012: looking motherly
my friend said this about one of my outfits, and I just had to laugh & embrace it...

an awesome Tolkien quote.

2011 mastheads

January 2011:
um, this one is missing in action. Oops.

February 2011: I got that boom boom pow
From "Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas

March 2011: intellectually credible and existentially satisfying
I almost didn't use this, because it was a David Platt line talking about Christianity... it seemed a little self-absorbed to use as the tagline for my blog, but I couldn't stop giggling about it...

April 2011: no fiddle-diddling
From our class trip to D.C. - our tour guide kept saying this when she wanted us to hurry.

May 2011: less than ordinary
From "Story of Love" by Mandi Mapes. "Just like the sun lights up the moon, this love is a reflection of more than just me and you. Our lives were less than ordinary and while I couldn't see past tomorrow, God was making history. What a beautiful story of love."

June 2011: peanuts to an elephant
Whoops! That's from a Li'l Wayne song. How did that get on here?

July 2011: this grace that i've received, i want to show you
From Mandi Mapes's song "This Love". Doug & I did our pre-screening for adoption in July, and this song is about adoption.

August 2011: rockin' the suburbs
From the Ben Folds song/album. Celebrating one year in our first house.

Sept. 2011: sharing rainbows of happiness
The best fortune cookie I have ever gotten: "Loving is sharing rainbows of happiness." I still don't even know what that means.

Oct. 2011: a giddy thing
From a Mumford & Sons song - "Sigh No More"

Nov. 2011: i guess i have got my swagger back.
Image stolen from the Internet - cover of Jay-z & Kanye album Watch the Throne. Line is sort of from their song "Otis".

Nov. 2011 - 2: every day, a day closer
The last one just seemed too cocky. And too gold.

Dec. 2011: peace on earth, good will to men

2010 mastheads

January 2010: a new hope
As it turns out, this is actually the name of Star Wars: Episode 4, but I honestly didn't know that when I made this. I was just voicing the way I feel at the beginning of each new year...

Februray 2010: a little more funk, a little less jive
I'm not really sure where this came from. The depths of my bizarre mind, I suppose.

March 2010: It's a party in the USA!
Yes, that's Miley Cyrus. You'd better click "unfollow".

April 2010: full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse
From "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" by T.S. Eliot

May 2010: ya'll can't match my hustle
From "Spaceship" by Kanye West

June 2010: the pox of such antic, lisping, affecting fantasticoes
From a line by Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet

July 2010: out wandering the world...
Just an accurate summation of that particular month

August 2010: Do I dare disturb the universe?
Also from "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"

September 2010: hide your kids, hide your wife
From the Antoine Dodson video that swept the web

October 2010: queen of the phonies
A line from The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. Inspired by our school librarian, who questioned my faith because I encouraged students to read this novel.

November 2010: it's so intense
From the Youtube sensation, "double rainbow"

December 2010: making spirits bright!
From "Jingle Bells"!

front door

In continuing (ever-so-slowly) the pictures of our house as it comes together... here is a terrible comparison of the front door. I accidentally left my camera at home in WNY after spending the weekend with my family, so you'll have to deal with this until I get it back.

The house itself is the same color as before (gray/blue). I'm just too impatient to wait until I have a better picture of the front door to do a real before/after shot.

More coming... someday...

Also... haven't been doing such a great job keeping track of the "mastheads", so here goes. I think I left off in July... oops.

July 2010: Out wandering the world
Just a factual statement of my life in July.

August 2010: Do I dare disturb the universe?
From "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"... I'm so pensive.

September 2010: (Hide your kids, hide your wife)

October 2010: Queen of the Phonies
From Catcher in the Rye, naturally.
(Happy belated Banned Books Week!)
